It is connected to Joshimath by a 3.5 km long cable car; it provides an excellent panoramic view of the mountain peaks like Nanda Devi, Kamet and Dronagiri. From January to March, the Auli slopes are usually covered with a thick carpet of snow, about 3m deep. The stretch of 3-kms with a drop in elevation of 500m is considered to be a very good skiing ground by international standard. Clean 10-20 km slopes provide excellent opportunities for cross – country and downhill skiing. The resort has a 3 km long slope ranging from a height of 2519m to 3049m, which is its major attraction.
